課程簡介Course Description

The course is designed to develop students’ speaking skills of the Indonesian language at the basic level and students’ understanding of cultural aspects related to the Indonesian language. This class will provide opportunities for students to build the skills to support their confidence to have conversations using simple Indonesian language.

    This course is aimed to provide students with the necessary skills to improve their ability to speak using simple Indonesian language effectively. In the class, students will learn everyday vocabulary, pronunciation, and basic sentence patterns to help students carry out conversations on various topics. By the end of the semester, students will be able to:

    • Pronounce Indonesian words correctly
    • Use basic words in daily conversation in the right context
    • Use new vocabulary used in culture and society in the right context
    • Respond to questions using the appropriate vocabulary during conversations
    • Apply basic Indonesian grammar during conversations
    • Ask questions using appropriate grammar
    • Respond to questions using appropriate grammar
    • Listen and comprehend basic conversations in diverse situations within the limits of grammar and vocabulary acquired in this course
    • Converse using appropriate grammar and vocabulary related to daily life conversations
    • Ask and answer simple questions using the right grammar and vocabulary
    • Read and tell the content of spoken texts related to daily life conversations within the limits of grammar and vocabulary acquired in this course.
    • Identify cultural aspects of spoken Indonesian language within the limit of basic vocabulary and grammar acquired in this course
    • Apply the cultural aspect in the spoken Indonesian language during conversations

    Indonesian language proficiency level:

    • Be able to acquire Elementary level (A1)

    Students are responsible for memorizing vocabulary, reviewing grammar, and reading materials before class in order to reserve valuable in-class time for speaking practice. All assignments are submitted by the due date. The final grades are determined based upon:

    1. Attendance and class participation: 20%
    2. Weekly in-class quizzes: 25%
    3. Mid-term exam (individual interview):  25%
    4. Final exam (individual interview): 30%
