Currently, almost every organization is required or urged to apply information systems to deliver digital and suitable solutions for supporting business operations, enabling business sustainability or creating closer business relationships with customers, suppliers or even the entire societal members. Therefore, it is necessary for our students to develop the competency and skills for analyzing and designing information systems.

This course aims to introduce to our students the essentials regarding the analysis and design of information systems. The objectives include the understanding of 1) the roles of information systems respect to organizational management or governance and 2) the foundations of planning, analyzing, designing and maintaining information systems.
After finishing this course, our students will be knowledgeable of analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills in information systems analysis and design. One overarching component of this course is for students to complete group assignments (e.g., team projects) for addressing business needs.

Week3 (): Foundations for system development (chapter 1,2) (6 hours)
Week4-5 (): Managing information systems projects (chapter 3, 4, 5) (9 hours):
Week6-8 (): Modeling process requirements (chapter 6, 7) (9 hours)
Week 9-10 (): Modeling data requirements (with Midterm Exam or quiz)
Week11 (): Interface/report (chapter 10, 11, 12) (9 hours)
Week12 (): Testing/maintaining (chapter 13,14) (9 hours)

Week14 (): Final exam or quiz
Week15 (): Final presentation

1. GRADE DISTRIBUTION:
Participation (20%), Exam/Quiz (40%), and Others/Assignments (40%)
2. CONTRIBUTION EVALUATION:
One overarching component of this course is for students to complete several group assignments (e.g., team projects) including analyzing and designing business information systems of their choices. In other words, students will work in small groups and should be aware that there are presentations, reports, etc. as the course progresses. Moreover, this course expects the highest level of class participation. Although attendance is not compulsory, students would be responsible for all material and topics that was discussed, if they miss any class. Besides, this course expects that students should complete the assigned readings before coming to class.
