課程簡介Course Description

本課程提供對美國政治研究的廣泛導論，重點聚焦於聯邦政府的核心政治機構與公民的政治行為。我們將從詹姆斯‧麥迪遜（James Madison）在《聯邦黨人文集》（Federalist）第10與第51號文件中所描述的憲法邏輯作為課程起點。這套「麥迪遜式」（Madisonian）政府模型將作為我們研究的參照標準，協助我們評估美國憲政體制是否依此運作，若否，問題又出在哪裡。因此，本課程不僅探討美國政治中各種行為者的作為，更進一步分析其背後的原因。課程涵蓋主題包括：1)政治中的集體行動問題；2)美國憲法的邏輯與架構；3)公民的態度與行為；4)影響政治選戰的因素及選戰如何影響選舉結果；5)政黨的本質及其如何促進或妨礙民主治理；6)美國國會與總統職權所面臨的兩難；7)美國總統職權為何以及如何日益擴張；8)媒體如何影響公共輿論。
