課程簡介Course Description

This course aims to provide students with the necessary information to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills at the beginning level, as well as knowledge to help students understand Indonesian cultures and the life of Indonesian people.

    The course provides a wide range of new vocabulary and basic grammar to help students effectively use the basic Indonesian language on various oral and written communication topics. By the end of the course, students will be able to: 

    • Pronounce Indonesian words correctly
    • Recall and use basic vocabulary in daily conversation in the proper context
    • Apply basic structures of the Indonesian language in both spoken and written forms within the limits of grammar and vocabulary acquired in this course
    • Listen and comprehend basic conversations in diverse situations within the limits of grammar and vocabulary acquired in this course
    • Speak using basic grammar and vocabulary in basic conversations
    • Ask and answer simple questions using appropriate grammar and vocabulary
    • Read and translate short passages on familiar daily topics written in basic grammar and vocabulary acquired in this course
    • Write simple sentences and short passages on familiar topics within the limit of basic vocabulary and grammar acquired in this course
    • Discuss topics about Indonesian cultures using basic grammar and vocabulary

    • Indonesian language proficiency level:

    Be able to acquire Elementary level (A1)

    Students are responsible for memorizing vocabulary, reviewing grammar, and reading materials before class to reserve valuable in-class time. All assignments are submitted by the due date. Attendance is mandatory in this class. Not attending the class more than three times a semester will impact participation and attendance grades. The final grades are determined based upon:

    1. Attendance, class participation, homework: 20%
    2. In-class quizzes: 25%
    3. Mid-term exams: 25%
    4. Final exams: 30%
