課程簡介Course Description

  • In the two-semester course, five SEA countries and certain regional issues are studies each to acquire the knowledge and foster interest as well as critical thinking through lectures, discussions, and designated readings. The understanding of the SEA cultures and major events is expected to be advanced via pragmatic and flexible approaches. Oral presentation, essay writing, review test, critical thinking and summarization, and debate are arranged for actually exercise of English. 

 

  • 本課程分為二個學期,個別探討五個東南亞國家及數個區域議題。
  • 以實用的方式提升同學對東南亞文化與重大國際時事的了解;並結合邏輯思維與批判論述的訓練,發展對國際事務及議題的思辨能力及關注度。
  • 為提升英語口說及寫作實際運用能力,課程安排口語報告、書寫報告、複習測驗、閱讀摘要、課堂討論等活動。
  • 課程進行及分數皆相當有彈性,並以課堂即時顯示學期分數的方式,目標為鼓勵同學積極參與,實際應用。

    Participation 15%

    (+) Elaborating personal perspective in class.
    (-) 15-60 min late -3%; 60+ min late or absent -5%; sick leave or urgency may be exempted.

    Assignment 30%

    Submit THREE summaries and analyses (10%*3) from the designated readings (presentation material excluded), 300-500 words each.

    Presentation 35%

    Select ONE weekly topic:

    [Report] 1500-2000 words with reference 15%

    Review Test 20%

    A review test by the end of the course (20%). Answer 2 essay questions from the 5 provided a week before.

    Bonus 5%

    5% bonus for the attendance of encouraged SEA related academic activities (workshop, seminar, lecture…)
