The English Teaching Practice course is designed to provide aspiring teachers and educators with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in teaching English as a second language (ESL) or foreign language (EFL). This comprehensive course equips participants with the necessary tools and strategies to deliver effective and engaging English lessons to diverse learners.

 

Throughout the course, participants will explore various aspects of English language teaching, including lesson planning, instructional techniques, classroom management, and assessment methods. They will develop a deep understanding of language acquisition theories, linguistic principles, and cultural considerations that inform effective English language instruction.

 

The English Teaching Practice course combines theoretical foundations with practical applications. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, microteaching sessions, on-campus class observations, and reflective exercises to apply their knowledge and skills in real classroom scenarios. They will receive guidance and feedback from experienced instructors, fostering their growth as competent and confident English language educators.

    Course Objectives:

     

    1. Develop a solid understanding of language acquisition theories, linguistic principles, and cultural considerations that inform effective English language instruction.

    評量工具與策略、評分標準成效Evaluation Criteria

    Students will be required to take two exams, give two presentations with lesson plans attached, and write two to three term papers. All enrolled students are encouraged to attend class observation in junior or senior high schools. Active class participation is necessary. Students are expected to have done the assigned readings before coming to class and give their thoughts during class discussion. Grade for the course will be computed as follows: (i) exam, 40%, (ii) oral presentation: 40%, and (iii) class participation and discussion: 20%
