The goal of this course is to offer advanced training in Optimality Theory (OT). This course discusses extensions of OT, including Hamonic Serialism, Anti-faithfulness, Cophonology, Floating Constraints and Generalized Alignment. We will examine data such as suffixes, reduplication, clips, blends, adjectives, adverbs, songs, nursery rhymes, finger rhymes, and classic poetry. Students will be assigned papers to report in the class weekly. A final oral presentation and a final term paper are required.
