課程簡介Course Description

The question “Who am I?” has intrigued people across the globe throughout history. In this seminar class, we will explore diverse theories on self and identity by structuring each week’s topic as “‘Who am I?’ and ____,” where the blank will be filled with various possibilities such as creativity, organization, body, emotion, career, leadership, and ambiguity, to name but a few.

    The objective of this course is to help Ph.D. students navigate theories and studies of self and identity in and around organizations. Students will:

    • Learn about theories of self and identity in organization and management literature.
    • Develop research ideas relevant to their own research interests.
    • Communicate to an academic audience through written reports and oral presentations.

    評量工具與策略、評分標準成效Evaluation Criteria

    • Facilitating in-class discussion (20%): Students will serve as facilitators during the semester. Facilitators are expected to develop and share an overall understanding of the assigned readings.
    • Reflection essay (20%): Students are expected to write four personal reflection essays (less than 2 pages including references, single-spaced, in English) that provide criticism and reflection on the assigned readings, as well as suggestions for advancing the theory.
    • Class participation (20%): Students are expected to attend every class and meaningfully participate in in-class discussions.
    • Term project (40%): Students are expected to write and present a position paper (Week 5-6) and a term paper (Week 15-16).
