課程簡介Course Description

這是一門討論課,其目的是在各位同學對國際關係領域已有相當瞭解後,

對若干國際政治專題做進一步的探討。因此,所列出之閱讀資料只是幫助我們對問題的瞭解。各位同學自然可以,也應該,找尋主題的相關資料。同時,我們要本著求真求實、求融會貫通的精神,研究相關專題,不必為一人、一家、一派所束縛。

除對重要理論做深入探討外,亦將針對二次大戰後的國際政治發展及主要國家之國家安全政策與外交政策進行析評。

國際政治的理論與實務有其連續性與發展性。上課時間主講人將適時分發相關報導、分析、評論文章,供同學們閱讀、思考,俾使理論與當前實務相結合。

除課堂討論與報告外,每位同學必須在學期中(期中考試週)提出一篇三千字左右的思考性論文,並於學期結束時繳交一篇一萬字左右的研究性論文,作為學期成績。思考性論文與研究性論文均應限於國際關係之範疇。

     The primary objectives of this course include

    1. Reexamine and reevaluate the major theoretical ap.roaches to the study of international relations, namely, realism, liberalism and social constructivism;
    2. An in-depth study of the origins and the ending of the 40-year long Cold War;
    3. Two case studies, including the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 and The Democratic Peace theory.
      Through these studies, we hope to develop analytical and critical capabilities on international affairs and on the strategic, security and foreign polices of major actors in world affairs.

    成績之計算大致為:課堂參與、討論及報告:40%;思考性論文20%;學期報告研究性論文40%。本科目不舉行期中考試。期中考試週照常上課,並繳交思考性論文。本科目無期末考試,期末考試週前一週繳交學期研究性論文。
