中美科技貿易戰、新冠肺炎的散佈與區域戰爭，讓我們同時見證了疾病傳播的全球化之無遠弗屆，也同時面臨了全球生產與貿易鏈的斷裂與重構，在這門課裡面，我們需要從古典社會學的歷史與比較社會研究之傳統出發，帶著歷史社會學的旨趣，提供一種宏觀性的與比較社會學的框架。我們在本學期的課堂中有幾個主要的目標。
