    Independent Study

Independent Study: Understanding Theories and Models of Information-Seeking Behavior

Objective: Develop a foundational understanding of the theories and models related to information-seeking behavior.

    Activities:

    1. Review core readings on key theories such as Wilson’s Information Behavior Model, Kuhlthau’s Information Search Process, and Dervin’s Sense-Making Theory.
    2. Analyze case studies that apply these models in different information environments.
    3. Reflect on how these theories can be used to predict and understand user behavior in various settings.

    Independent Study

Independent Study: Application of Information-Seeking Models in User-Centered System Design

Objective: Apply information-seeking models to the design and evaluation of user-centered information systems.

    Activities:

    1. Examine the characteristics of information seekers and how these influence system design.
    2. Study examples of user-centered information systems, analyzing how they incorporate theories of information-seeking behavior.
    3. Develop a conceptual design for an information delivery system tailored to a specific user group, applying relevant models from the previous week’s study.
