The English Teaching Materials and Methodologies course is designed to equip educators and English language teachers with a comprehensive understanding of effective teaching methodologies and the selection and utilization of appropriate teaching materials. This course explores various pedagogical approaches, instructional techniques, and resources that enhance language learning and engagement in the English classroom.
Throughout the course, participants will delve into the principles and theories underlying second language acquisition, exploring how these inform and shape English language instruction. They will examine a wide range of teaching methodologies, such as communicative language teaching, task-based learning, and content-based instruction, understanding their strengths, limitations, and suitability for different learner profiles and learning contexts.

1. Develop a deep understanding of language learning theories and their application to English language instruction.
2. Familiarize participants with a range of teaching methodologies, approaches, and techniques for effective language teaching.
3. Enable participants to critically evaluate and select appropriate teaching materials that align with learning objectives and engage learners.
4. Equip participants with the skills to design and implement meaningful language learning tasks that promote active participation and language production.
5. Explore the integration of technology in the English language classroom to enhance learning experiences and foster digital literacy.

Students will be required to take two exams, give two presentations with lesson plans attached, and write two to three term papers. All enrolled students are encouraged to attend class observation in junior or senior high schools. Active class participation is necessary. Students are expected to have done the assigned readings before each class, hand in their homework and give their thoughts during class discussion.
