This course will focus on Taiwan’s history and examine the political, economic, social and cultural factors that had shaped Taiwan and its relations to the world in the larger context of Asia-Pacific and global development during this period.

    Students are required to finish assigned readings before class and participate in class discussion. Active class participation is required. The final grade will consist of the followings:

    Class participation: 50%; Final  paper: 50%
