課程簡介Course Description

 

In this course we will continue studying the content corresponding to the level A2 (according to the CEFRL). The course has two focal points of study:

1. The differences between the use of the principal past tenses (perfect and simple past).

2. The language we use to interact with people and get things done at public events and places such as parties, trains stations, restaurants, stores, etc.

All the units we will study in this course deal with a different aspect of one of these two focal points. The content of the lessons follow the structure of Virgilio Borobio's "ELE Actual A2", units 5 through 12. This book and this course are based in a communicative approach to language learning, an approach that focus on the students learning the language through tasks and activities in which they need to communicate something.

The students need to do/take part in the classroom activities, exercises, and homework because they are designed to give them opportunities to use and practice the language. Through these activities students can not only learn new content but review and practice what they learned in previous courses

    The oral tests are individual. Their main objective is to assess the student’s communicative ability. The teacher will ask the students 5 to 10 questions and will assign a grade to each answer according to the following criteria.

    9 – 10

    Clear pronunciation.

    The student speaks with only a few pauses.

    The student uses an adequate vocabulary.

    The student’s syntax is correct. He may make some mistakes sporadically.

    The student understands the interlocutor or asks for explanation when not sure.

    6 – 8

    Mostly clear pronunciation,

    but the interlocutor needs to make some effort to understand.

    The student speaks with several pauses.

    The student uses an adequate vocabulary but sometimes chooses the wrong word.

    The student’s syntax is mostly correct. He doesn’t control very well the verb conjugation and the gender and number correspondence between nouns and other words.

    The student mostly understands the interlocutor but there might be some confusion sometimes.

    4 – 5

    Mostly unclear pronunciation, the interlocutor doesn’t understand most of the student’s speech.

    The student speaks with long pauses.

    The student only uses the correct word sporadically.

    The student’s syntax is not correct. Therefore, the interlocutor doesn’t understand very well what the student says.

    The student has trouble understanding the interlocutor.

    0 – 3

    Unclear pronunciation. The interlocutor doesn’t understand anything the student say.

    The student doesn’t say almost anything.

    The student doesn’t say almost anything.

    The student doesn’t understand the interlocutor at all.

     

    The final written exam is compound of statements and incomplete texts. The students need to write appropriate questions for asking the information provided in the statements, as well as questions for asking the lacking information in the texts. The grading criteria is as follows.

     

    Assessment

    9 – 10

    The student uses an adequate vocabulary.

    The student’s syntax is correct. He may make some few mistakes.

    6 – 8

    The student uses an adequate vocabulary but sometimes chooses the wrong word.

    The student’s syntax is mostly correct. He doesn’t control very well the verb conjugation and the gender and number correspondence between nouns and other words.

    4 – 5

    The student makes many mistakes in choosing the adequate word.

    The student’s syntax is not correct. Therefore, it is difficult to understand what the student wants to express.

    0 – 3

    The student only writes a few unrelated words or doesn’t write anything at all.

    The student only writes a few unrelated words or doesn’t write anything at all.
