課程簡介Course Description

Intermediate Indonesian Grammar and Writing II is an intensive course, partly linked to the Intermediate Indonesian Conversation Course II. The students will practice their grammar knowledge and writing skills in class, individually as well as in pairs and in small groups. They will get acquainted with a wide range of topics as to deepen their understanding of specific Indonesian themes and settings. Through short introductory lectures on specific grammar items and sociocultural aspects of the language the students will develop the practical ability to apply knowledge of grammar and vocabulary in written discourse (on intermediary level).

    課程目標與學習成效Course Objectives & Learning Outcomes

    The aim of the course is to strengthen grammar knowledge and writing abilities of the students. Learning outcomes by the end of the course are the following:

    · Students will be able to write formal application letters for internship or work;

    · Students will be able to express their opinion – about a wide range of topics – in formal, written discourse;

    · Students are familiar with basic cultural knowledge about future plans/wishes/dreams, the yearly Ramadhan fasting month, applying for internship/work and affectionate relationships and marriage;

    · Students are familiar with grammar items and vocabulary on intermediary level;

    · Students are familiar with the (creative) process of writing as individuals;

    · Students are familiar with the challenges and dynamics of group writing.

    Attendance of the course and active participation in class is mandatory. Students are encouraged to attend well prepared in order to have a fruitful lesson. Weekly homework is a quintessential element of the learning process. Absence (for good reasons) has to be notified before class. Missed classes will have to be made up with an extra assignment.

     

    Assessment of the course consists of the following elements:

    • Attendance and participation: 15 % of the overall mark
    • Weekly assignments: 15 %
    • Mid-term written examination (individual): 30%
    • Final exam (written examination): 40%
