Strategic Management for Financial Institutions is a course combining lectures and seminars with active class participation, in form of discussion, group study and presentation, by students. Whilst non-deposit-taking financial institutions will be touched on a selective basis, the course stresses the conceptual foundation of Banking together with the idiosyncrasies of those credit markets dominated by deposit-taking financial institutions. In addition, recent developments with potentially far-reaching implications for the future design of banking and financial markets are addressed. The course focuses on the environmental dynamic against which bank management decisions and strategy must be taken or formulated, rather than operational practices per se.
