本門課程於本學期將著墨於阿拉伯歷史與社會部分,課程將介紹此區域之歷史發展及社會議題。課程主題將分別探討伊斯蘭前的中東、穆罕默德、當代阿拉伯世界的形成、古蘭經與信仰 、法律與思想、伊斯蘭的多元化、蘇菲、聖戰、女性、伊斯蘭社會的多元性 、非中東區域的穆斯林以及當代穆斯林社會。藉由針對伊斯蘭世界不同歷史及社會議題的介紹,以提供學生對此區域的一個廣泛性知識基礎。
