This course will combine economic intuition and mathematical methodology to illustrate dynamic general equilibrium macroeconomics. We will discuss real business cycle models (RBC), New Keynesian models (NK) and other macroeconomic issues.

This class aims to develop students’ problem solving as well as research skills, and help students understand economic theories from the global perspective. We will also teach how to solve dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models with Dynare. Students are encouraged to visit the Dynare website (http://www.dynare.org/) to gain more information about this software.

Your grade will be determined by assignments (50%), 1 midterm exam (25%) and 1 final presentation (25%). Homework assignments are due at the beginning of the class. Students are encouraged to collaborate on homework, but each must submit his/her own work. Make-up exams are generally NOT given. In case of illness or other emergency issues that result in missing exams, please contact the instructor as soon as possible.
