課程簡介Course Description

本課程介紹第二語言習得和語言科學相關的研究設計與方法,課程內容涵蓋研究方法與論文寫作。關於研究方法,本課程將探討學術倫理議題,然後比較量化研究與質性研究的基本概念、研究對象、表現形式等,並且分析研究過程與具體操作。論文寫作方面,本課程會探討論文寫作要素,如選題、引言、研究方法與材料、研究結果、討論與結論等的撰寫技巧。

This course introduces the use of design and methodology for carrying out research in second language studies and language sciences. The course covers research methods and academic wiring. With regard to research methodology, the course will talk about research ethic issues, then compare quantitative and qualitative methods in terms of basic concepts, research targets, forms...etc., and analyze the research process as well as operation. As for academic writing, the course will discuss how to write each of the components, such as topic, introduction, methods or materials, results, discussion and conclusion, in a research report.

    課程主要目標是提供研究方法的基礎概念,讓學生能夠設計並完成他們自己的研究,同時培養學生閱讀專業領域文獻的研究時能夠批判思考。本課程預期學生能進一步提升自己的研究能力與論文寫作技能。

    The goal is to provide a foundation for students to design and conduct their own research as well as to assist in reading critically the research literature in their particular area. The students are expected to improve their research ability and writing skills.

    • 課堂討論參與(20%)
    • 作業(10%)
    • 課堂發表(20%):選教材的文章於課堂上口頭報告並準備講義。
    • 學期論文口頭及書面報告(50%):完成一個先導性研究(pilot study),含研究問題、文獻探討、研究方法、初步結果、討論與結論等。
    • 報告主題及概述:約3頁(12字,1.5倍行高),第9周交;
    • 期末書面報告:約8-12(12字,1.5倍行高,不含參考文獻及附錄)18交。
