IMICS offers an internship course with credits in the spring semester. The internship must be related to communications. Abiding by the policy of the IMICS Program, the students taking this course must acquire prior approval from the Director, Professor Tammy Jih-Hsuan Lin before beginning the internship. Students may register for the internship course before or after completing the actual internship. But if a student does not complete the internship within the spring semester, he/she will receive an "incomplete" mark on the transcript.

The major objective of this course is to offer students the opportunity for practical training, including meaningful applications of and reflections on the classroom learning. Industry practices, such as news writing, filming, and website maintenance, are not only technical skills but require managerial minds to amplify the values of communication profession. Students can learn from a mutually reinforcing process where guidelines and theories are tested in practices, while practical experiences enlighten the rules suggested by research again. Therefore, students are expected to turn in a thoughtful report on their experiences and their learning at the end of the internship.
A minimum of 160 hours commitment is required. The internship will be declared ineligible if a student worked fewer hours than specified. Using a part-time job as the internship is not allowed. It is important to note that students should fulfill the work requirements stipulated by the internship organization as well as the course requirements following the IMICS Program Policy, which is detailed on the IMICS website.
The grades will be determined based on the quality of the internship work, the evaluation of the student's internship supervisor, and the depth of the final internship report. Please follow the IMICS Policy and use the required forms on the IMICS website. The final internship report should be submitted via email to the course instructor as well as IMICS office by the end of the semester in order to receive a grade in time.
