• Midterm Exam (20%) & Final Exam (25%): Two open-book exams will be administered during the semester. If the exam will be missed because of a University-excused absence (and prior notice is provided), the final will be rescheduled by the instructor based on his discretion. The format of the make-up exam may vary from the formats of regularly scheduled exams. The instructor has the sole right to make determinations concerning the potential for make-up exams.
• Final Project & Homework Assignments (45%): You will join to a team to work on the project and homework assignments. In the project, you will need to create an IT-related business and analyze your strategy in a given industry/market in the field of Management Information Systems. A late penalty of 20% per 24-hour period will be imposed for projects turned in after the submission time. Saturday and Sunday count as one 24-hour period. The topics of the final project will be introduced in class.
o Presentation video (20%): You will need to present your findings or thoughts via promo-style or presentation-style video on our course platform by the assigned submission deadline (11:59:59 pm on Jan 02, 2023 (Taipei Time)). Students in the same group will receive the same grade (Students SHOULD participate in the group work to receive the grade). At least two students in a group should be presenters. After the deadline for presentation video, all the groups will need to conduct between-group peer evaluation. The groups will need to provide comments, suggestions, and ranking for all the other presentations in a survey. We will not let groups know who leaves the comments, so please be free to write anything that might be helpful or critical to your peer groups. Bonus point(s) will be offered to the groups who provide excellent comments and who get the highest votes from your peer groups. Please upload the evaluation file you have filled up by 11:59:59 pm on Jan 16, 2023 (Taipei Time).
o Final Report (25%): You will need to submit a group final report regarding to the final project by the assigned submission deadline (11:59:59 pm on Jan 16, 2023 (Taipei Time)). Students in the same group will receive the same grade (Students SHOULD participate in the group work to receive the grade. An in-group peer review will be conducted in the end of the semester to adjust the scores related to the group work on final project.)
• Class Participation (10%): It involves attendance and class participation. The instructor may call on individual students during the class, and their inability to respond with a reasonable answer will adversely affect their class participation grade. For each class, students will be graded on a 0-2 scale: 0 for absence, 1 for presence without constructive participation, and 2 for constructive participation. Pop quizzes or random calls may be conducted to support the class participation.
Notes for Temporary All-Distance-Learning Mandate due to the COVID-19 Pandemic
If a mandate from our school will be operated that needs all our classes to go online temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic during the semester, all the course requirements and grade composition will be the same but the format may be adjusted a little (e.g., online synchronous or asynchronous classes, online exam, online TA sessions, and/or online presentation). Changes will be announced if needed.
Notes for the Involvements with Virtual Exchange Students
(Virtual Program Is Upon Request)
Asynchronous online learning options (videos) for our classes will be provided to all our enrolled students, including students who are not able to attend the in-person classes. All the course requirements are the same. Virtual exchange students are extremely encouraged to join a team with students at NCCU. A team with diverse background members will be benefit to your final project since you may be able to collect real data for need analysis and do brainstorming in different perspectives to make your proposed information systems development project more practical.
There will be no maximum number of virtual exchange students allowed in our class. If the virtual exchange students cannot enroll in our course due to the capacity set by the course selection system, you are welcome to contact us or the Office of International Programs (OIP) at the NCCU College of Commerce for the furthur manual course-adding process.
Notes for the Involvements with Physical-Learning Exchange Students at NCCU

Like virtual students, physical-learning exchange students are highly encouraged to join a team with Taiwanese students. A team with diverse background members will be benefit to your final project since you may be able to collect real data for need analysis and do brainstorming in different perspectives to make your proposed information systems development project more practical. If the exchange students have any questions regarding to our course, you are welcome to contact us or the Office of International Programs (OIP) at the NCCU College of Commerce for the furthur assistance.
