This course will use the United Nations as an example to study International Organization in the context of world politics. The main issues to explore are how the United Nations has been used as an instrument for international security and how effective it has been in coping with evolving global security challenges.
Weekly readings will be assigned. Students are expected to finish the reading assignments before each class and participate in class discussion. In addition, students are expected to conduct a case study of conflict and explore the roles of United Nations in the development of that case.
