Linguistics is the scientific study of language, specifically of language form, language meaning, and language in context. This course aims at assisting students acquire foreign languages efficiently and establish a broad view on world languages by understanding the fundamental knowledge about language and the similarities and differences across languages. The following topics are included: The nature of language; language and sounds; language and words; language and structure; language and meaning; language and use.
