課程簡介Course Description

College English I/II is a two-semester course, designed to develop in students the abilities and attitudes to engage critically with the world. These abilities and attitudes include, in particular, English language proficiency and cultural awareness. This College English I course will have an emphasis on fostering students' confidence in communicating their thoughts in English in both oral and written forms. It will also focus on enhancing students' understanding of the differences between themselves and people from other cultures.

    The expected goals are, by the end of the course, students will be able to:

    • describe an event and participate in discussions in English;
    • reinforce their established writing skills and abilities;
    • analyze cultural differences and identify potential misunderstandings or conflicts in cross-cultural situations; and
    • gain a better understanding of their own culture.
