This communicative course is designed for intermediate learners of English. It features an innovative topic-based syllabus which integrates practice in reading listening speaking and writing around engaging meaningful tasks. Using readings coming from a variety of sources along with abundant usage of related cultural information the course aims to sharpen learners’ vocabulary-building language analysis skills and learning strategies in all four skills. Listening activities give learners the opportunity to hear people using the language in a variety of different contexts and the content of the recording often serves as useful input for task-based discussions that follow. Then the discussions can also serve as a springboard for additional project work and writing activities. In general with a combination of bottom-up (based on language decoding) and top-down processing skills (based on context and background knowledge) students are allowed to develop their language ability through integrated practice in linguistic and cultural points presented in the course.
