由於網路化與數位化科技的推波助瀾，數位內容與傳統媒體在出版與應用的消長，衝擊著高等教育及學術圖書館；學術圖書館有許多新發展，如學習共享空間、學科服務與embedded館員、數位資源新服務、數位學習新服務等。本課程主要探討數位時代學術圖書館的任務與價值、新發展的服務、以及學術圖書館管理與營運理念。重要學習目標如下：
1.研討數位時代學術圖書館的價值與任務。
2.探討學術圖書館因應數位科技發展的新服務。
3.探討學術圖書館管理課題，包括策略規劃、行政與組織、人力資源管理、創新服務、評鑑管理、學習共享空間
