本課程主要從專業教育與國際比較觀點，探討圖書資訊學教育，闡釋圖書館事業與圖書資訊學理論對於圖書資訊學教育的影響。其次探圖書資訊學專業教育理論與國際圖書資訊學教育現況。本課程另外探討圖書資訊學課程教學設計。主要課程目標如下：
1.    從圖書館事業與圖書資訊學理論，探討其對於圖書資訊學教育的影響。
2.    探討專業教育與圖書資訊學教育，以及認證制度。
3.    探討國際圖書資訊學教育現況與教育體系，包括：美國、英國、澳洲、德國、日本、韓國、中國、台灣等。
4.    探討圖書資訊學課程設計的原理與實作。
