女性進入勞力市場的增加不但改變了工作場所的景況而且對個人日常生活也有顯著的影響。本課程的設計主要希望讓學生對性別與工作的研究領域有一個概括性的了解, 同時,希望學生體驗到如何利用理論與實證的研究取向來分析探討性別不平等的現象。
本課程將著重在探討下列有關的研究議題: (1)在現代工業社會中性別與社經發展的關連為何? (2)家庭特質對男女工作經歷方面具有什麼樣的影響效果? (3)個人如何因應來自工作與家庭的雙重任務需求? (4)何種因素能夠解釋男女在工作表現方面的差異? (5)在不同的文化範疇下,如何了解性別與工作的發展情況?
